Grammar #11: Passive Modals (due Wednesday, June 19)
Think about ONE problem that exists in your country. In your opinion,
what should be done to correct it? What shouldn't be done? What could
or could not be done? What must or must not be done? Try to use a
variety of passive modals when describing the solutions to your problem.

In my country people who are 17 years old can have driving license , and that causes some problem. In my opinion, people who are under 18 years old should not be given driving license.

In the city of Caracas of Venezuela we have a huge problem with the motorcyclists on the road. They do not follow the driving regulations, so they cause many accidents. I think that the driving rules must be obeyed for all the motorcyclists. They should not be driven between cars in movement. One passenger must be seated on the motorcycle. Police should be applied fines to motorcyclists who brake the law.

The big problem in my city that the sea being destroyed to build new residential land

I think burying the sea should have stopped by goverment in our region , and other regions.

Turkish prime minister thinks that he is the king of Turkey. However, we have been governed by democracy since 1923. This is main problem for Turkish people because we want to be govern by democracy. In order to earn our democracy again, most of Turkish people have been protesting to the government. Because of protesting the government have done many bad things to the activist. The government should not do these mistakes

One problem should be fixed as fast as possible in my country is corruption. Millions dollars has been stolen every year by politicians and traders who do not care of many disadvantage that are the result of corruption. Thus, government scheme and process of expense must be inspected by every residents.

DeleteMy country has a problem in education system. It has to be changed as fast as because it is too hard to study. Even some students commit suicide because of grade, and students have to be went extra school by parents after finish school.

This sounds like a serious problem that will not get changed soon because its not a policy, its an ATTITUDE. It is tragic to hear that students commit suicide because of grades. So sad.
The big problem that my country will face in the future is transportation. The roads become full of cars and people spent a lot of time in gridlock. As a result, the roads shuld be expanded, the underground must be established, the new roads should be created, the trains must be completed as soon as possible, car ownership should be limited, the briges must be invented, the alternative roads must be enhanced, and modifying the hours work must be applied. Otherwise, the problem will continue and it might become more complex.

DeleteA big problem in my country is when people made a traffic violation and a police catch them they used to give them money in order to don't get a ticket. This is a big problem because most of the people don't take conscience on it, and many accidents occur because of that. The goverment should improve the security and put honest cops on the street.

People who are driving should be patient. Frequent honking should be stopped because it annoys drivers. The beginner driver also shold be patient when someone honk. Embrassing during the driving could be dangerous.

people should be gotten equal treatment when they have the same issue in court without any kind of bias,and domestic tourism must be improved to develop the economy.

DeleteGetting treated unfairly or with bias in court sounds like a HUGE problem. It is not easy to live in a place where there is no justice. But tell me, what should be done about this problem? Perhaps corrupt judges should be sent to jail?
How could or should tourism be improved in your country?
In my country there is this problem that the roads are dirty so the roads should be cleaned !!

ReplyDeleteso what we need to be satisfied, the government must build a drainage system ,that supposed to save a human life. I wonder why should government always be greedy? it said the money has them blind, they might not be thinking they were dealing with life and soul.
Instead of "the government must build a drainage system," use a passive modal (Drainage systems MUST BE BUILT).

There exists a serious problem in my country---the contamination! In my opinion, the factories should be placed in the suburb area or the down wind direction.The public transportation system must be improved. Cutting tress or other plants must not been done, oppositely, we could encourage people to protect the green plant. As long as we can do these, the pollution can be managed and controlled in some degree.
